We believe that Japanese onsen are a truly special part of the country’s culture.
Onsen have the power to heal not just the body, but also the heart.
A hinoki(Japanese cypress) bath calms the mind with its soothing aroma.
When you enter an onsen filled with the scent of sulfur, any hot spring enthusiast can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and excitement.
A vast open-air bath surrounded by nature offers a breathtaking view and an unforgettable sense of openness.
Soaking in an alkaline hot spring helps remove old keratin and excess oils, leaving your skin smooth and refreshed.
Thanks to Japan's location on active volcanic plates, it is one of the few countries in the world blessed with such a rich variety of hot springs.
We truly hope that people around the world will come to appreciate the unique charm of Japanese onsen.
This is our sincere wish.
At ENGINE, our facility where we welcome international guests every day, we are frequently asked:
"Are there any onsen that allow people with tattoos?"
The reality is that many onsen and public bathhouses in Japan still restrict entry to those with tattoos.
However, the meanning and perception of tattoos are often very different between Japanese people and those from other countries.
While seeking understanding from those involved in Japan's onsen and public bath industry, we deeply wanted to help create an environment where international visitors could enjoy hot springs without worrying about their tattoos.
With that sincere goal in mind, we established the Tattoo-Friendly Onsen Association.
